Zion

On the holy hills stands the City God founded.
The Lord loves the gates of  Zion more than any other place.
Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God!
All the powers and rulers of this world know of you.
They might prefer not to admit it, but the truth is: they , indeed, know of you.
They whisper to each other:  Nicole was born there, and Tim was born in this City, and Anna.
Yes, of Gods City shall be said: This man was born there, and this woman was born there.
And when the Lord looks down on all the nations he knows exactly who is a citizen of his city.
It is the place, where mercy and loving- kindness and truth meet, where righteousness and peace kiss each other.
And they look like you and me.

You are to be envied because you dwell in his presence.
Fortunate are you because Gods strength is in you and in your heart are the highways to Gods City.
Passing through the valley of Weeping, you make it a place of springs.
You go from strength to strength, increasing in victorious power,
each of you is in the presence of God in his City.
One day in your courts is better, then a 1000 anywhere else;
I’d rather be a doorkeeper and stand on the threshold in the house of my God, than to dwell at ease in this world.
Why do you look with grudging and envy, you many-peaked mountains,
at the mountain of the City called Zion which God has desired for his dwelling place?
Yes, the Lord will dwell in her forever!

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.
Out of  her comes salvation and deliverance for the world.
